Sikkim

Sikkim

Land of Mystic Peaks

One of India’s most beloved hill states, Sikkim enchants with snow-brushed peaks, flower-laced valleys, prayer-flagged passes, and curving roads across a dramatic Himalayan canvas. Winters sparkle in white; summers glow with clear skies and cool breezes. From soulful monasteries and heritage trails to high-altitude lakes and epic treks, Sikkim is a compact wonderland that over-delivers on scenery, serenity, and thrill.

The History & Culture

Sikkim, once a Himalayan kingdom, joined the Indian Union in 1975. Legend celebrates Guru Rinpoche’s 8th-century visit introducing Buddhism and foretelling Sikkim’s monarchy. The Namgyal dynasty later shaped the region’s spiritual and cultural identity. Today, a Nepali-majority population lives alongside Bhutia and Lepcha communities; Hinduism and Vajrayana Buddhism coexist, echoed in gompas, festivals, folk songs, and exquisite mountain cuisine.
