Daywise Itinerary

Upon arrival in Almaty, meet and transfer to your hotel. Check in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Almaty.

After breakfast at the hotel, head out to explore the renowned Shymbulak Ski Resort, the largest ski resort in Central Asia. Located just a 15-minute drive from the center of Almaty, the resort sits at an altitude of 2,260 meters in the stunning Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. In summer, the resort transforms into a breathtaking green landscape framed by snow-capped peaks, offering a serene and picturesque atmosphere. Guests can enjoy various optional fun activities, which can be booked on-site. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely Arbat Street walking tour. Begin with a stroll along Panfilov Promenade, located near the Kazakh Opera & Ballet Theatre. This vibrant area is dotted with charming cafes, local eateries, and small shops, beautifully lit and often filled with the sounds of local musicians performing traditional songs. The walk concludes at Arbat Street, a popular pedestrian zone bustling with shopping outlets, street performances, and lively entertainment. Overnight stay in Almaty.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, proceed on a scenic drive to Kolsai Lakes, often referred to as the “Pearls of the Tien Shan.” Located approximately 300 km southeast of Almaty, these breathtaking mountain lakes were formed by natural landslides. Surrounded by dense pine forests and dramatic mountain slopes, the lakes offer serene walking trails, fresh alpine air, and spectacular photo opportunities making it a perfect escape into nature. Overnight stay in Kolsay.

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a journey to the Kaindy Lake, a mysterious and hauntingly beautiful lake known for its submerged forest and mirror-like waters. Formed by an earthquake-induced landslide in 1911, the lake is dotted with eerie spruce tree trunks rising from the water’s surface. The final stretch from Saty Village to Kaindy Lake is an adventurous off-road ride in rugged Soviet-era UAZ vans, adding an extra thrill to the day’s exploration. Next, visit Charyn Canyon, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of Kazakhstan.” Located around 200 km east of Almaty near the Chinese border, this spectacular canyon was carved over millions of years by the Sharyn River. Its dramatic landscapes feature colorful rock formations, deep ravines, and towering cliffs - a paradise for photographers and nature enthusiasts. Enjoy hiking through the Valley of Castles and soak in panoramic views of the canyon’s unique geological formations. Return to Almaty for an overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel. Explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Republic Square, Independence Square, Abay Square, Panfilov Park, and the historic Zenkov Cathedral. Later, take a scenic cable car ride from the city center to Kok Tobe Hill, located at an altitude of 1,100 meters on the southeastern outskirts of the city. Kok Tobe offers panoramic views of Almaty and features a recreational area with various attractions, including a mini-zoo, amusement rides such as a roller coaster and Ferris wheel, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Overnight stay in Almaty.

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your day with a visit to the iconic Green Bazaar (locally known as Zelyony Bazar), one of Almaty’s most vibrant and traditional markets. Experience the local culture as you browse a wide variety of fresh produce, traditional Kazakh delicacies, nuts, spices, and herbs. Be sure to bargain with the vendors, and don’t miss the stalls just outside the main bazaar area for even better deals. Right next to the bazaar is the famous Rahat Chocolate Factory & Shop, where you can shop for a delicious selection of locally made chocolates and sweets at very affordable prices—perfect for gifts or souvenirs. Later, you can visit a shopping mall for some relaxed retail therapy and to explore both international and local brands. Overnight stay in Almaty.
